I was reminded this morning of the campaign to assist Stan Sakai & his wife with their demanding medical expenses, information about which can - and really should - be found here.
1991’s Amazing Heroes #187 featured a strip by Mr Sakai which offered “a step-by-step look behind the scenes” of Usaji Yojimbo. Even in this digital age - or perhaps, especially because this is the digital age - it’s a brilliant discussion of how great comics can be created using what’s now a more traditional approach;
Holy Acid Trip Batman. Another of Mitch McConnell’s wonderful retro-psychedelic pieces, this time featuring a distinctly pre-New Look Batman and a great deal of Eisenhower-era paranoia. Originally a double page spread in 1991’s Amazing Heroes Swimsuit Special, scanning limitations has led to it being presented here as two single sides.
